- Through the process of screen print Emma creates original one-off works of art predominately on paper but also on wood. By using the screen as a drawing tool she explores the relationship between colour, shape and pattern. She loves to play with the transparency of colour and texture: exploring how they interact and overlay in predictable and unpredictable ways. She experiments with the tessellation of form and by layering shapes to evoke a sense of illusion.Finding inspiration from geometry, Op Art and contemporary abstract art Emma likes to create depth and movement in her work. Implementing her own systematic way of printmaking she adapts and responds to the work as it evolves on the page. Intuitively making decisions about the balance of tone and colour she allows the process to define the outcome. Emma moved to Bristol to study a degree in Textile Design and then went on to gain a PGCE in Art and Design and has been teaching Art and Textiles in schools & college for over 15 years. She recently completed her MA in Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking and is currently printing & teaching at Spike Print Studio.
